Re: [HISTORY] The Cambridge Medieval History, Vol.3: Germany and the Western Empire - icequeen

May I request sections #46 & 47? I have the raw audio for section #45 recorded and am in the process of editing it. I should have this finished in the next few days. Having come almost halfway I would like to finish out the Vikings if possible.

Re: [HISTORY] The Cambridge Medieval History, Vol.3: Germany and the Western Empire - icequeen

Section 44. 32 minutes 43.47 seconds. https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/cambridgemedievalhistory3_44_various_128kb.mp3 Section 44 PL Note: Just a little too much silence left at the end (about 10 seconds instead of 5); the rest of the recording is fine! Thanks for checking this. I have trimmed ...

Re: marking mistakes when using Blue Yeti

Thank you -- your suggestions have been most useful, and are helping me to move forward.

So far as I can tell, I'm not currently using a noise gate. I will look into this more closely when I get the opportunity.

marking mistakes when using Blue Yeti

I've run into a problem when trying to mark mistakes in Audacity while recording with a Blue Yeti microphone. I have tried using a hand-held clicker, snapping my fingers, clapping, and vocal clicking. None of these leaves a readily visible trace on the recording -- the microphone seems to be rejecti...

Re: Recording Startup Difficulty

I have a Blue Yeti, and there's definitely a Gain button on the back of mine (the top one). The one below that (Pattern) I have set at the second last setting (sorry, can't remember what that setting's called and it's just represented by an image kinda like an upside down heart). There's also a Vol...

Re: Recording Startup Difficulty

The first word is clipped. I note that your noise floor is extremely low at -87dB. Are you using any sort of noise gate or noise removal? If so, try without and see if it makes a difference. Noise gates set at too low threshold are notoriously for clipping-off the beginning of words. I've checked b...

Re: Recording Startup Difficulty

I have a Blue Yeti, too, and while I don't have the same problem, the first second or so of my recording would also be messed up due to Audacity's compressor doing a weird fade-in effect. You could use the same workaround as I do: At the beginning of the recording, say a few words you'll later cut ...

Re: Recording Startup Difficulty

Please find the link to the sample below: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/startup_problem_sample_tombooker.mp3 The first word in the phrase is "about". One last thing -- this has been amplified using the preset level in the "Effects" & "amplify" dropdown menu (13...

Recording Startup Difficulty

I'm having a small difficulty with sound quality at the very start of recording. The first syllable I say comes out sounding blurred or mumbled. After that, the rest of the recording is coming through clearly. I don't think this is just poor articulation on my part -- it is happening consistently wh...

Re: ~[GROUP] The Cambridge Medieval History, Volume 03, Germany and the Western Empire - icequeen

Many thanks. I will certainly defer to your judgement in this matter. Confirming section 44. At what point in the text does this section end?
