Re: ~SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
I think you're on the right track. You can either do "quote" "end quote" or change the tone of your voice to give the impression you're after. And yes, too many instances of "quote" "end quote" can be tiring. Go with your gut. :) Awesome, I'll try to give it ...

Re: ~SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
Had a delay last week. I've scripted out section 2 with the intro and ending and just finished working out the phonetics of the German words. Plan to make the first recording tomorrow (I usually do a few). I did decide to drop the footnote, as it was long and difficult to work in without diverting a...

Re: ~SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
Section 2 has been copied to a local text file for scripting purposes, proofread for copy/paste errors, and is ready for recording. Word count is 1909 for the source text (i.e. excluding LV intro and ending text) and the MW has been updated accordingly. Section 1 proofing is in progress. With the re...

Re: ~SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
Quick update. I was on a road trip last week for Spring Break. I started prepping my scripts for the first two selections today. I have two questions. First, at least one of the works (Old Age Pensions in England, p. 421 in the source) has a table of figures, essentially a header row and three data ...

Re: Blog/Podcast Idea
We're assuming you're talking about publishing it off our site, in which case we have no objections. :) "Ordinary people" have made our how-to videos on YouTube (I'm pretty sure Phil's videos started before he became an admin) and have probably done other things off site that we aren't aw...

Blog/Podcast Idea
Hello all! I have been reading for almost a year now and the experience has been really great. I've been thinking about starting a blog and/or podcast to document my journey, but also to encourage people to volunteer and provide some tips and tricks I've learned along the way. Even though Librivox i...

Re: ~SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
Magic Window looks good! You don't need word counts on a solo project, unless you really want them for yourself. They're more for group projects, when people need to have an idea how long a section is before they claim it. Do you want the year to be visible in the finished project? The notes sectio...

Re: ~SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
Ok, I have added the rest of the section titles, added the source text links to the metadata, and added notes (year published, placeholder for the word count, and link to source text for easy clicking in the MW). I've already scraped a few of the texts, but I need to proof read for copy/paste anomal...

Re: ~SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
Oh, and one more thing: The intro/summary you provided sounds more like an intro to this as a solo project. Before cataloging, you'll want to update that to something more suited to the listener - similar to what would be on the back of a book, to interest the potential listener. :) You can wait fo...

Re: SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks - tg
I've set this up. I shortened your file name a little bit to make it less unwieldy. Now you've got some homework to do. :) Instructions for accessing the Magic Window are found here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window I recommend setting your password...

Ok, it was the parentheses. I have replaced the first message above with the text from the generator.

Re: SOLO Selected Works by John Graham Brooks
I do see author in the list, but still get the error. I made sure I was logged in and tried filling the form in a new browser window. When I hit the back button after the error, the author's last name isn't populated, which is the same behavior I observed before. So, try again later today?

Selected Works by John Graham Brooks, by John Graham Brooks (1846 - 1938) I have selected twelve works by American sociologist John Graham Brooks, most of which are articles published in journals between 1892 and 1914. All twelve are sourced from Archive.org and according to this link, all of his w...

Chapter 6 (Fenelon) is done. Sorry it took so long. Also, it seems like the Librivox domain has had some issues lately. https://librivox.org/uploads/redrun/deeperexperiences_06_lawson_128kb.mp3 23:36 Thank you for an excellent reading of this chapter! The only minor change to be made is in the intr...
