Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage - tg
Thanks to both of you. I'm focusing my time on editing right now, hoping to get the rough edit done before sending chapters for proof listening. I'm still getting used to LibriVox abbreviations and processes and system. If I seem slow and clueless, it's because I am. Still alive, though dealing wit...

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage - tg
Got it. I'll pick out the essentials and trim things to a size to fit into the written description.

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage - tg
Yes, all the work is done (or almost) for a single complete reading of each chapter text and footnotes in one file, and endnotes in an accompanying file. As noted, most of the chapters are so long that getting all of it into one file will make the thing too long. As a long-time scholarly editor, I w...

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage - tg
Better ask about this potential complication: Talmage's book uses two scholarly note apparatuses, both footnotes (mostly for scriptural references) and lengthy chapter-ending notes for historical context. When I began recording I fiddled with different ways of trying to get the narrative and notes a...

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage
Thank you. The recording is done and I'm abt half through the chapters in the rough audio editing. Still need to re-record and cut in a few missed words, bad pronunciation, etc.

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage
I meant blind college students--not deaf students (I just completed a biography of a deaf historian and that's on my mind).

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage
Sound advice. I should have mentioned that despite being new to Librivox, I have recorded audio books as accommodations for deaf students in college (albeit, that was awhile ago). More recently, my reading experience includes recording audio versions of a couple of my own books, which are university...

Re: Contacting Libraries to Add Librivox to their website
As a longtime librarian myself, rather than approach libraries individually (which is perfectly acceptable) I recommend working with the American Library Association to get a LibriVox poster added to the ALA products catalogue. If anyone from LibriVox will contact me directly, I'm happy to use my co...

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage
Nope--that's the one. So much for effective searching. I've read from the PDF but this should be a parallel text of the edition.
The challenge in this text has been the dual note styles. I've read the endnotes as a separate file and read in footnotes into the text.

Re: SOLO Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage
Agh. Should have mentioned that the text file is a PDF copy of the book, rather than "none." The text is not available in Project Gutenberg but it is available, and I'll share the PDF file with proofers and anyone else.
