Re: The all-new "HELP! I have an Audacity problem" thread
I used to use Amplify, but it also can amplify the loud bits too much and cause clipping. But Loudness Normalization doesn’t have that issue; it allows for varying volumes. Loudness Normalization on its own doesn't do anything to even out the volume of a recording. Just like Amplify, it adjusts the...

Re: The all-new "HELP! I have an Audacity problem" thread
Also, looks like the Checker app only works with MP3 files, not with .aup files, right? You'll need to export to MP3 in order to upload, and Checker will check the other technical specs for you too. So long as you still have your .aup file, you can adjust the volume and re-export to make a new MP3 ...

Moved to Book Suggestions forum, since this is a request for one! (The Launch Pad forum is for posting when the project is actually ready to start. We have some threads stickied there with the full instructions. )

Re: 2024 Microphone Recommendations
Well, welcome to LibriVox! We're glad to have you join us! That wiki page might be this one: User-Recommended Equipment ...and I suppose that is quite old! Might still be handy in knowing what to look for in general, at least. Myself, I never leveled up from the Blue Yeti, and it doesn't h...

Unrelated, but we may find several nice plays among Glenn Hughes' bibliography, with thanks to LectorRecitator for finding them for us:

Re: lets get some henty
I don't know: most of the Hentys I've read are already on Librivox. I liked 'Facing Death, or, The Hero of Vaughn Pit' a lot, but if I remember correctly the characters spoke with an odd accent in that one: probably not best for my first recording attempt :) I've heard good things about 'With the B...

Re: Today's theoretical question
Well... Just how theoretical is this question, to everyone? Because in general, I do not advise operating grid-powered electronics while within hearing distance of a thunderstorm. That's not a good policy for keeping your electronics in working order, and don't ask me how I know!

Thank you for the advice! i suppose Joseph C would be fine, or are full names preferred more? Pseudonyms and shortened names are also perfectly OK! We've got you in now as 'Joseph C'. You can see your new catalog page by clicking your forum name in the Magic Window, and here it is for conv...

Re: Including reader's name in the MP3 tags
I think the initial question was whether there was an easy way to do this, and... I suppose that could depend who you are. If the index number stays the same when other database changes are made, that link would always be valid as long as librivox keeps their same URL format, and it if a liste...

Re: Including reader's name in the MP3 tags
If you'd like to help with automating fixes for MP3 files, using PHP, I'd be glad to talk details elsewhere... but putting reader names in ID3 tags is probably a non-starter because it makes for a more brittle system. ID3 tags may as well be permanent, for all the work it would take to change them o...

Thank you.
Here's a reminder that The Woggle-Bug Book does not have a Book Coordinator. If we don't have one for it by this weekend, I'll save a copy of all the work that's gone in so far, and we'll shelve it for a possible future collection, if there is interest.
