Re: One Book a Week Club 2024

I'm finally getting started with my 2024 reading list. I'm currently reading a couple of other books, but I don't post books until I've finished them. Books completed so far are: JANUARY: SQUEEZE ME BY CARL HIAASEN LIBRARY AUDIOBOOK FUNNY AS HECK, OFTEN TOO CLOSE TO THE TRUTH FEBRUARY: ROUGHING IT B...

Re: One Book a Week Club 2023

Here is my list of books read in November and December. I didn't reach my 2023 goal. With all that happened in the last two months, I didn't expect to. NOVEMBER Mark Twain's Partner Saturday Evening Post Article by Michael J. Phillips Interesting, entertaining article. Excellent LibriVox reading by ...

Re: One Book a Week Club 2023

Once again this is a combination of more than one month's worth of books. I don't know if I'll reach my goal of 50 books for this year, but it doesn't matter. Kindle lets me know how many hours I've read, but that's only when I use my Kindle e-reader. They don't know how many pages of real books I r...

Re: ZOOM Discussion Thread

I think the quality of the discussion is far more important than the number of participants. It's actually easier to have a back and forth discussion when there are 5 or 6 attendees or fewer. Throwing the floor open to random questions rather than setting an agenda can also lead to useful discussio...

Re: ZOOM Discussion Thread

Zoom seemed to work best when we were isolating during the early days of Covid. With people now able to get out more, the Zoom chat sessions aren’t needed as much. Maybe some LibriVox folks could submit some short videos (say 3 to 5 minutes) on projects they’re working on, which could be combined in...

Re: ZOOM Discussion Thread

Well, I've managed to get behind in almost everything I have to do this morning, so I won't be able to Zoom today.

Re: ZOOM Discussion Thread

I haven’t done anything LibriVox wise in a while, so thought it would be nice to catch up. I know you’ve been super busy with the free thought project. It would be interesting to know if it’s anything like you expected, what’s been surprising about it, etc.

And to find out what Phil has going on. 🤔

Re: 'Thank You' messages for LibriVox readers - continued

Two thumbs up and a big Thank You to flavo5000 (Ben Tucker) for his excellent reading on “The Films of Orson Welles by Peter Bogdanovich.” Mr. Welles was an amazing talent. He was unforgettable, even when he wasn’t at his best. While I’ve seen several of his movies, reading this book piqued my curio...

The second Monday would probably be better for me for this October. We may have something scheduled for Monday morning, which could go past 11 am.

Re: Advice how to get back to reading?

I think every reader goes through a reading dry spell. We may be more aware of it now, with ebooks and such declaring, “You have read for 49.7 minutes today” and such. I do set a goal of so many books a year, but rarely reach it. I usually enjoy what I read, so that’s enough of a goal for me. For th...
