Re: A software dedicated to recording audio books

Glad to be of assistance. I'll give you error codes from like 5 distributions or so. that's really nice of you, thank you! I have sent you a PM with a direct link to an new archive to test on the same distro you try the first time. What is the name of this distro please ? I think it was a ...

Re: A software dedicated to recording audio books

This solution is too far from the one I had in mind. I want the software to be accessible to people regardless of their chosen operating system. yes, it is not an easy amount of work to do. I was thinking that people could use it on an old machine, turn it into a sound booth recording studio in one...

Re: A software dedicated to recording audio books

I found Ubuntu to be slow, and the GUI to take too many resources. You need to have a swap partition on a hard drive. Linux is ALWAYS faster than windows, unless you run it from a USB or CD without also making a swap partition on a hard drive. The other option is just to ask it at boot-time to run ...

Re: A software dedicated to recording audio books

I have an Ubuntu machine that hasn't been booted in 6 years. This thread is making me want to dust it off and fire it up  I tried ubuntu again, you're not missing anything. I booted up the latest and greatest they had to offer, saw the usual slap your hands keep your hands off everything toddl...

Re: [CHILDREN'S FICTION] The Black Buccaneer by Stephen W Meader -jo

I'm as usual not following the text as I listen, and I'm listening to just an extract of that chapter as I haven't caught up, it sounds just fine that way. It is sensible and correct to do it as you've done.

Re: A software dedicated to recording audio books

Any tips ? https://help.archive.org/help/uploading-a-basic-guide/ Writing in mid 2023, Internet archive is very easy to download from. Even with a reasonably old browser. Some parts don't seem to work, but most of it does, and I can manage to find useful things there. I'm passionate about programmi...

Re: A software dedicated to recording audio books

Hi Lulu, This is a wonderful idea. I use linux and am glad to see that you've ported it to linux. I use an older browser, so github does not allow downloads. Github prefers people who they can spy on it seems. There are other sites which allow downloading just as they have always done. I've been dow...

There is a mistook in my last massage, the smellchecker might have got it, or better is I failed to chook my own message before pasting it.
shooshied was meant to be smooshied. Different meaning, sorry if I offended.

Well, after a ten minute study, I still cannot tell what has technically changed with your recording. I'm stumped. I can see and hear the differences, the natural asymmetry has flipped and there is a hollow sound but I can't tell what has happened.

Re: [CHILDREN'S FICTION] The Black Buccaneer by Stephen W Meader -jo

Do you think there is a chance your operating system has selected some other microphone ? laptops have inbuilt microphones and webcams have microphones too. When you use different software, some software will change the default microphone selected. You can check by tapping different parts of the com...

Re: Tell a joke

Statistics and scientists tell us that 1 out of every 10 people suffer from hemmeroids. Sorry to bring it up, because it's not a nice subject, and it's no doubt painful and terrible because of the suffering, but that's where you're actually wrong. 1 in 10 suffer from it, so obviously 9 out of 10 enj...
