Re: [Solo] Lolly Willowes: or the loving huntsman by Sylvia Townsend Warner - rap

Lukessa, you posted in the Need Help forum about the aircraft noise, and I had a go at cleaning it. Have you listened to the file I uploaded? I do think it cleaned up quite well, and you could apply the same method yourself.

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

That's extremely strange; I wouldn't know how to get that effect without doing some research! Edited and re-uploaded .... again.

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

Laura, it's no worry; thanks for catching it. It only takes minutes to correct. Section 3 edited and re-uploaded.

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

Thanks, Laura; that was a left-over from when I was thinking of recording the whole chapter and cutting it in half later.

I've edited and re-uploaded section three.

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

Thanks, Laura; I've uploaded Section 3, the first part of Chapter Three.

I've corrected a one-letter typo at about 19.40: "There is a good gravelled playground, however, were the atmosphere of corduroy is mitigated ..." read as WHERE, not WERE

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

Thanks for catching them, Laura; considering that I edit by going through the entire recording, I don't know how I miss so many mistakes!

Chapter 2 edited and re-uploaded.

Yes, it's a side of the world which almost certainly still exists in places, and which we know nothing about.

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

Thanks, Laura; after finishing chapter two, I think I'll stick to my original plan, just splitting chapter three.

Chapter two has been uploaded.

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

Laura, do you think I should avoid longer sections, and go for around 30 minutes? It doesn't take much more work to do, and I think that half-hour pieces will be easier to listen to. As it is, the second chapter feels quite long, so I'm going to get it all recorded and edited before deciding on spli...

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

Thanks, Laura; chapter one edited and re-uploaded. The chapter/section mix-up comes from my estimates of chapter lengths. There's a chance that chapter 3 will be too long for one recording, so might have to be in two pieces, sections 3 (chapter 3, part 1) and 4 (chapter 3, part 2). I forgot to end m...

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

I've uploaded the first chapter. It's the introduction, and is rather dry. Later chapters are more descriptive and involving.

Re: [COMPLETE] Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese - Reid-ans

Thank you, Anne, that looks good. Did you decide against including a file of pictures from the text? It doesn't matter if you did, but I just wondered if you'd forgotten.

Re: [SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer

Laura (lvictoria) has volunteered to be the DPL. I downloaded a pdf of this book some years ago, but forgot to note the source. In format, it seems to be a google document, but I couldn'd find it online now. The Victorian London site has a reformatted text (which I can't assume is PD), whose first c...

[SOLO] Pauper, thief, and convict - Archer - ans

The pauper, the thief, and the convict, by Thomas Archer (1830 - 1893) "Bare, unpicturesque, and sordid as are the conditions of poverty, there are sights in London which everybody may and should see - sights which are sometimes touched upon in newspaper articles, or in the chapters of sensati...

Re: Noise Reduction Issues

I agree; that's the ideal. I have lots of unedited recordings with "Blast, more traffic!" and re-recorded phrases in them. But I think the OP can recover reasonable sounding recordings from those two files by cleaning just the affected areas.
