Re: [SOLO] London Labour etc., Vol 1 -Mayhew-ans

Thanks, Gill; here's section 55. We're getting errata again: Page 325, end of second paragraph in column 2. (13.44) "... we find £780 expended in the street-sold hardwares." (becomes £3,900) page 329, in the second to last paragraph in the section (before "The Crippled Street-Seller of Nutmeg-Grater...

Re: Music - What are you listening to?

Clive, could you post or PM me with the details of that book about making telescope mirrors, please? When I was at school, I got part way through making one, and have often wished that I'd persisted with it and finished making the whole reflector.

Re: [SOLO] London Labour etc., Vol 1 -Mayhew-ans

Thanks, Gill, I've uploaded the corrected file for section 54. I've not added the quote/unquote at 21.00-28.10 that you suggested. I don't think that I've used quote/unquote anywhere else in the recording, and I did try to give the speaker a slightly more "affected" or educated voice than the narrat...

Re: FULL [Dram Read] Story of the Amulet, E. Nesbit-ans

"Never" two versions, 9 seconds long: https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/amulet_never_py.mp3 I think it sounds different enough from my narration. I did look up the context, to get the intonation right. It might help other voices: Good friends and gentlemen,’ he said, ‘who are bound with me in this...

Re: [SOLO] London Labour etc., Vol 1 -Mayhew-ans

I'm sorry about the delay; here's section 54. It's a long one, as it finishes a major section of the book. Section 54 From "Of the probable means of reformation..." - PDF 350-358 / text 315-323 Total so far, approx. 34:04:27 Section 55 is from "Of the Street Sellers of Manufactured Articles", PDF 35...

Re: Commercial Use of Librivox Recordings

I'm in the middle of a very long solo (estimated 47 hours of recording). I'm strongly tempted to find out how to put it on audible at a reasonable price (as well as leaving it here for free, of course), as I'm certain that someone else will be selling it as their own.

No, Gill, all's clear in volume one.

An easy mistake to make.

Here's section 53. Re: the first dissertation about LibriVox is finished!

A wonderful piece of work .... lots of work, too, as all literature-search work seems to be (I remember the enormous amount of time I spent in the library of The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for just one short piece of work for a microbiology course)!

Congratulations.

At a guess, the abbreviations show when a particular paper was published; the last "twtf" being Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, for example.

"txtf" possibly Tueday to Friday, excluding Wednesday ...

Re: Do you keep all your audio files?

I'm perhaps a bit extreme: I keep both a flac file and the mp3. The flac file to allow lossless editing, if needed later, and the mp3 to save me the bother of recreating it if I want to listen to it or give it to a friend.

I have plenty of space, as I have a dedicated external hard drive.
