I always dreamed of Australia from listening to the works of Men at Work and watching The Coca Cola Kid. If anything, I saw it as a bastion of freedom. That may not be the case after all. But, from Texas, I think we kinda relate to you guys on some level.

I came here seeking a similar answer. For me I worry more about giving each character a voice. From my experience of listening to professional audio books, I did appreciate some subtle tone changes for characters. But it is subtle. A guy reading a female character in full falsetto is going to be rid...

Also, note that if you have any background noise, replacing breaths with dead silence will add to the unnatural sound of the recording. The background white noise will also be cut out, giving the recording a very choppy sound. A movie I am fond of was one of those movies-about-making-a-movie movies...
