Re: Can Not Find a Way to Swap Used Books

There used to be 'trade and save' book stores around here. You'd take books, usually paperback, and get a 50% to 70% credit towards the purchase of the store's reduced price books (which you find your name in when you get home). The last one around here used arson to balance the accounts for a profi...

Re: Choosing a computer monitor

Most modern TVs use LCD screens and have HDMI and VGA (d-sub 15 pin) connection. You can probably watch the DVD/BluRay disks directly from your computer. Consider making a weighted chart of accounts of your priorities. That way you can judge from a perspective based on something other than knowledge...

English: There are hobbies more worthless than Esperanto.

Esperanto: Estas hobioj pli senvalorajaj ol Esperanto.

Klingon: 'op bel Qu' lo'laHbe' law' eSperanto lo'laHbe' puS.

{ This is my last post on Esperanto. I'll be devoting my time to translating Sanskrit into Esperanto. }

Re: Your Truly Truly Useless Skill

I learned how to make rope from maguey cactus when I was a kid. The fishermen on the island didn't trust store-bought rope. Several years ago I sharing a cabin at an isolated construction job. There was nothing to do after work so I started making rope - just for something to do. After a few days th...

Re: Stories,books and movies that bear re-telling more than a dozen times without complaint

I recognized the films you mentioned. I've read the fictional naval history (Aubrey/Maturin novels) series by Patrick O'Brian many times. Here are a few more books from the series: The Unknown Shore Post Captain The Fortune of War The Hundred Days The Wine Dark Sea Desolation Island Over the decades...

Re: Don't you hate...

Don't you hate it when you suspect that your mind has a mind of its own? I have been listening to a LibriVox book with an interesting reader. I started looking for other books read by Verius. It took too long for me realize it was "various" not someone named "Verius". My mind had...

Re: Don't you hate...

Don't you hate roaches. I use a small portable DVD player to listen to audio books in bed. It has a USB port: a thumb drive holds days worth of books. My player started acting up and eventually went crazy; jumping from file to file in random books... After many years of listening to radio plays and ...

Re: [Short Homilies] Ninety-nine Homilies of St. Thomas Aquinas upon the Epistles and Gospels - tg

If HOMILIES: 67 "The Great Account" & "68 True and False Glory" are still open I'd like to read them. I've downloaded the source file as directed and typed out the texts from the pdf. I proofread the texts, made corrections, and proofed again. I think I can do better this tim...
