Hello Ruthie, I have missed you! *waves* :) Yep, you were spot on. My computerily-savvy other half came home just after I posted before, and said that I should try Firefox as some sites don't work with Safari. So we tried it on Firefox and my file has been happily uploading for the past hour. So her...

I tried to do another upload today but still the same problem - no URL. Jennifer, I know you mentioned that you were going to get in touch with someone in admin too... and I have sent a couple of messages to the uploader admin from the upload page error form... I guess I'll just wait for someone to ...

return chapter 10

Hi Shurtagal,

Very sorry but I'll have to give back my chapter (10) too. I've lost my voice and am still seeing doctors to try and find out where it ran away to.

Aww, thanks Gesine, Starlite. :)

Starlite, tell me about it, lol! I've had serious withdrawal symptoms. I guess moderation really is the way to go.

Vocal Misuse/Damage

I don't know if many people remember me, I posted a number of times in the forums as a newbie librivoxer a couple of months ago... I had gotten really excited about narrating books and, being housebound due to an injury, I spent around 3-4 hours each day reading aloud, recording and tinkering with b...

Daniel, I thought I'd mention, I downloaded a trial version (you can trial it for 20 days for free) of 'ClickRepair' a while ago, and found that it worked really well for getting rid of my constant clicking and popping. It's $40 to buy if you like it, but I just noticed there also seems to be an old...

Anarchessist, It took me ages to get my head around Audacity too, and just all the general issues involved in learning to make a decent recording. Audacity isn't ideally designed, but also I think it's normal to expect a learning curve and a certain amount of frustrating stuff while you're trying to...

Another P/L question

D-oh!

I deleted this, lol. In case you're wondering, I asked a rather stoopid question, and then answered it myself a minute later *sheepish grin*

I've found a couple of chapters that I could probably have a go at... But yeah, it does look like there's no real shortage of PLs around to keep up with books as they come out. Which is a good thing, really!

Now if only I can get over my hoarse throat and start reading again myself! :?

Thanks so much for all your helpful answers. :) Leni, I had been hoping to do what you suggested, going to threads of projects in progress to find someone who didn't yet have, but might like a PL - but I went through page after page and almost all had either DPLs or other people who'd already claime...

Sadclown,

I just saw the note in the top post about keeping in touch once a month, and realised I'd been a month since signing on for my chapter. I've recorded mine but haven't gotten round to editing it yet, so hopefully won't be too much longer :)

I try never to put the tongue in an R's position but It seems, sadly enough, that this notion has take over control of all the r's sounds, even those which should be pronounced. If you only heard what strong R's we have in italian, you'd be laughing away by now. Daniele, you've already had me grinn...

Questions re: proof-listening

I'd like to try doing some PL, but I'm not quite sure how one goes about this. I read the FAQs, and as I understand it you either pick something from the 'PL/editors wanted thread', or just go directly to the thread of the work in progress and offer to PL... It seems like in most of the threads I've...

http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15671 Daniele, have you seen this thread? It looks like someone might have taken up the challenge :). I'm not exactly sure how it works, it sounds like the catalogue would be on wiki or something, I suppose that means it's external to Librivox as Cori mentio...
