That was recorded from a PG text marked public domain in the U.S. It probably didn't have it's copyright renewed. I'm asking about the 1926 copyright because I noticed a Thornton W Burgess recording of the Christmas reindeer has been done and from what I found the copyright date is 1926. I'm just curious how it all works, what we can use so far and what we can't. Thanks!

Hi there,

For public domain status, do we go by the original copywrite or by the renewal date? There's a text I'd like to read that was copywrited in 1926 but renewed by Simon and Schuster in 1954.
