Wow, a whole trilogy finished! That was quite the adventure, glad I got to be part of it. Thanks to everyone, and to Michele for organizing the collaborative work, splicing the recordings, and making it happen! It was great working with you all.

Re: Pronunciation help: all languages

Sainte-Beuve says, "Il vient un age peut-etre quand on n'ecrit plus." here is the file, spoken once fluently and once word by word so you can easier copy the pronunciation. https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/storyofmylife3_14_french.mp3 it means: maybe there will come a time when we won...

Sorry for the delay, had a lot going on the past few days. I think maybe it'll be best to go with the Longfellow recitation as is, and I'll focus on trying to get the final Helen section done as soon as I can.

Re: Pronunciation help: all languages

Hello! Can someone help me with correctly speaking a French sentence? It's taken from "The Story of My Life" by Helen Keller, about 16 or so paragraphs from the very end (https://www.gutenberg.org/files/2397/2397-h/2397-h.htm): Sainte-Beuve says, "Il vient un age peut-etre quand on n'...

Re: [FULL]The Story Of My Life - Part 3 (Supplementary Material), ed. by John A. Macy - tg

I need to try to get the French phrase right. Eek, French. If you send your phrases/paragraphs over to the Pronunciation Help forum, someone will send you an audio file with them pronounced perfectly! Oh perfect, thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try! I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't take on ...

Re: [FULL]The Story Of My Life - Part 3 (Supplementary Material), ed. by John A. Macy - tg

Section 12 uploaded at last. This was a difficult read. Anne's long, weighty, convoluted sentences, were hard to make flow in any smooth way. Also, I had many interruptions, plus head and chest conjestion part way through, and had to re-record many snippets. Helen's frequent interjections are the o...

Section 8 is uploaded . Thanks Victoria and Wayne for your additions, and Lynette for listening. I am really liking Anne Sullivan. She is unpretentious, funny, and has that pioneer spirit. Aren't we lucky she had a confidente to write to! :) Helen sounds like she was a difficult and willful child a...

Re: [FULL]The Story Of My Life - Part 3 (Supplementary Material), ed. by John A. Macy - tg

For Section 8, I also found this journal entry that I think should be read by Helen: It is in the March 5, 1888 letter (in blue). She is still very young. Thanks for the text! Young Helen letters are amusing. Her baby sister must have cried a lot, because "Mildred does cry" has come up a ...

No problem at all. I can constantly amazed at all the work you folks do in the DR's. I certainly wouldn't have the patience to do all that coloring, noting and all that. Same, really. It has to be a ton of painstaking work and judgment calls! Michele. I'm continuing to read anything that looks like...

It's definitely that time of year! I think the pollen is trying to work on me too, bleh.

I have a question about section 15. Part of a letter to John Hitz is highlighted in blue meant for Helen Keller, but it looks like this is a letter Miss Sullivan wrote. Would you still like me to read this part?

Re: [FULL]The Story Of My Life - Part 3 (Supplementary Material), ed. by John A. Macy - tg

Note per Section 5, Helen is very lucky the mother dog didn't rip her face off when she touched her new-born puppies. That actually happened to a 4 year old pupil of mine when she went to visit Grandma, whose normally gentle dog had puppies in the closet. Horrible tragedy. Scarred her for life, eve...
