I've finished recording Part 6 Chapter 5. I can't upload it right now - the internet I got here gets really slow after we go over quota for the month - so I'll upload the file after the 1st of November and I'm going to try to use this time to proofread what I've recorded and to start the next chapte...

You said you "normalise the noise, then use that"..? You'll need to normalise the *whole recording*, and then pick out a quiet few seconds to use as the noise profile ... otherwise Audacity is looking for much louder noise than actually exists, and thus won't take out much at all. Hmmm......

I'm starting to think it's the problem with a mic. I think you're absolutely right and it's some kind of an interference. I tried unplugging my laptop, there are certainly no wires crossing the mic wires and that didn't help. Also, the only way I can plug it in is by plugging it into the front panel...
