IP Listener Wanted: The Moors in Spain

[HISTORY] The Moors in Spain by Stanley Lane-Poole (1854 - 1931) “THE history of Spain offers us a melancholy contrast. Twelve hundred years ago, Tarik the Moor added the land of the Visigoths to the long catalogue of kingdoms subdued by the Moslems. For nearly eight centuries, under her Mohammedan...

Re: [GRP] Watergate Report, Vol. 2 - tg

Welcome, pwaldrop52! I've put you in for section 33. I would highly recommend doing the 1-minute test (link was in your welcome email) before starting in on this section. This is to make sure your tech settings are all OK before investing the time into recording a full section. :) How would you like...

SS,

Ava, your DPL, seems to have disappeared. Are you okay waiting for her to return (if she does), or would you rather we advertise for a new DPL?

I see this and will work on cataloging!

(Only MCs can delete sections. It's a security feature because it's SO easy to do it by accident.) ;)

Re: How old people really are?

Okay, I think I get it, but are you saying that if you want you can put your username or name in the tab next to your age, or just anonymous dates? :) Just the date. The bit about logging out of Google or opening a new tab is because if you're logged into Google, people might be able to use the col...

Re: Removing spikes with the compressor

Me again. :) Just looking at the photo, the file DID compress the spike relative to the rest of the waveform. You cannot remove spikes altogether. :) However, if you want to do more, I suggest playing with the threshold. On our church sermon recordings (a very dynamic speaker - highs and lows), I us...

Re: Removing spikes with the compressor

I think Mediafire (and other file sharing sites) don't allow sharing of images on other sites - to cut down on their bandwidth. Here's your picture: https://librivox.org/uploads/xx-nonproject/Comp_py.jpg It looks like you normalize after compression? I was expecting to see a smaller wave form. Would...

It proves you are human. Your recordings are always so clean and well done, it's nice to hear a slip-up once in a while.

Re: 1-Minute Test

Tests sound great! I think the one with noise reduction is better, of course. ;) You're all set! Ah, trains. We have one, but it doesn't seep into my recordings - it's far enough away. My bane is "performance" mufflers on cars, and motorcycles or heavy trucks in the summer. I pause, sigh, wait until...

Re: Not sure my Test uploaded

The uploader itself gives good information, such as (bolded part mine for emphasis): Instructions: Use the "Add files" button to select the file(s) from your computer. You can upload multiple files at once, as long as they are all for the same project. Choose the MC for your project from the dropdow...

Re: [GRP] Stories From The Operas by Gladys Davidson - tg

Compressor - shrinks peaks. More controls for the user to determine which peaks to use compression on, how much to shrink them, etc. Normalize - raises the selected audio's volume (amplifies) so that the highest peak is at a specified distance from maximum. So if you set Normalize to 0.5, it will s...
