Re: Good evening, book lovers!

Welcome! FYI, we're reader-driven (the readers choose what they want to record), so we don't really try to keep track of who likes what to ping them when there's a project they may be interested in. :) Once you get your one-minute test OK'd (not an audition, just a "sound check"), feel free to jump ...

Re: Background noise

OK, I think you'll still have to use the noise reduction, but in addition, you can highlight your entire file and do Effect / Notch Filter. Set the numbers to: Frequency: 1004 Q: 10 Then do the same thing, but using Frequency: 2008 That should knock out the higher pitched whistle/hum. If you want to...

Re: Background noise

Noise-cancelling microphones can do more harm to your recording than good, so it really depends. Upload a few seconds of your computer hum, and we'll see what we can do. If it's in one or two wavelengths, they should be easy to filter out using the Notch Filter. Upload it to the tests folder and pos...

Community Podcast: Proof-Listening

This has been percolating in my brain for years, and I think it's time to finally do something with the idea. I'm going to create a Community Podcast primarily about proof-listening. And I need your help! Would a few of you wonderful people answer some of these questions for me? * As a soloist/BC: W...

Re: constant repetition of public domain message

We implemented a shorter one for solo and short poetry projects - can't remember exactly when - I think around 2009. But the bas...

Re: The all-new "HELP! I have an Audacity problem" thread

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/pretty_angry.mp3 Bev, have at it. :) When I look at the waves and can't distinguish the sound from the words, I pretty much give up. I was just wondering what others do. Nan De-Clicker doesn't touch this. If it were my audio, I'd have to re-record that portion.

Re: The all-new "HELP! I have an Audacity problem" thread

Sometimes a click sound can magically be removed with the DeClicker effect (a separate add-on, if you didn't know that already). But most other noises within words are too hard to remove, in my experience.

Saw your PM. :)

If you want to start a new project, feel free. Just keep an eye on this one in case a proof-listener comes along and there are any edits to make. :)

This is set up.

I think that there's a time limit for editing your posts, and possibly that time was passed when you tried to remove the tilde. It's gone now. :)
