Re: Death dates for obscure writers

Wow - great find! 8-)

Lucherlover, please include all that info (Alan Graham, pseudonym of X) when you submit your recording, so we can have it right in the author database.

Re: How do you check tech specs on others' recordings?

Yep, Checker: http://cgjennings.ca/checker/

Don't trust it fully for background noise, since a reader could have appended absolute silence to the end, skewing the results. A human to check things like background noise and clipping works much better than an algorithm. ;)

Section 58:

50:22 - "It is not for kings, O Lemuel" repeated at 50:26

So close to perfection!

I don't see anything in Russian. The blurb in the top post is in English. Translating that to Russian would work fine.

Thank you, Tricia, too. The book seems to be ready for cataloguing now.
I see this. :)

Mark - did you want to include a Russian intro/summary?

Posting in Book Suggestions - it doesn't guarantee you a book coordinator, but it's where books are suggested and where BCs look for ideas. I'll move this over there. Hopefully you'll stick around. Maybe you'll get the experience to BC this yourself in a couple months or so, if no one else takes it ...

Re: to give ideas for stories

It looks like the Secret Seven was published first in a magazine in 1934, so they're still copyrighted until at least 2029. The Famous Five's first book was published in 1942, so it's still in copyright, too. I'm not sure Enid Blyton published anything much earlier than that. To be automatically out...

Nothing in return. It's all volunteer.

Regarding getting started: check the "welcome" email you received. It outlines the general steps to getting started. If you deleted it already, the text is available here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=36743

Re: Death dates for obscure writers

I don't have the resources RuthieG used to. I know she used to search in the British Library and the Dictionary of National Biography. Can you log into the DNB? I did a search there for "Person Name Mentioned" "Alan Graham". I cannot read the full article it returned because I can't login. But here ...

Hi! I don't think anyone has set this up for you yet because you're a brand new LibriVoxer. Coordinating a group project takes a lot of commitment and knowledge of how LibriVox works - both from a nuts-and-bolts angle with the Magic Window and technical specs of files, and from a policy/people angle...
