Re: Book Suggestion: Oracles of Nostradamus by Charles A. Ward

Nice suggestion! I think we'd need to use the Archive version, although the Sacred Texts one is so convenient. :hmm: Hmm, sprinkled with French, Greek, and Latin - not that we haven't dealt with that before. :) And some of the non-English phrases are footnoted with their translation! YES! I myself a...

Re: Re-using recordings in more than one project

That wouldn't help them make scripts.

Re: Emily of New Moon PG text

It's on Archive, too, but I assume it doesn't help because they want a straight text version to make a script out of for a dramatic reading. :) The text format of a book at Archive is a mess because it's not proofread or corrected, just a raw OCR (Optical Character Recognition - computer guesses wha...

Re: Editing in Audacity

On a recording, when not recording, do Ctrl-B. It puts a new track below your original one, with a mark where your cursor was when you did the Ctrl-B, and a field to type in a label. That whole thing is a label track. It comes in handy when you want to make a note of something at a specific point in...

Re: Re-using recordings in more than one project

Yeah, but if you did that with "The Luck of Edenhall" it pulls up the LV version of that, too, which wasn't Michele's argument. :) If I read her right, she wants them to come up without specifying "LibriVox".

Both PL OK.

Sad to see San Martin leave, but his reasons were noble and correct.

Re: Help with a recording problem/audio distortion

It sounds electrical to me, which could be almost anything - the mic, the computer, some sort of weird electromagnetic interference in the environment.

I have no clue.

Re: Re-using recordings in more than one project

I just noticed that https://librivox.org/henry-wadsworth-longfellow-collection-001/ should be a LV collection, since its sections all came from different text sources. Changing that now. So those will be searchable in the LV catalog. ;) (Although it looks dumb to have Longfellow listed as the author...

Re: Re-using recordings in more than one project

One reason we don't make every poetry anthology a "collection" that is individually searchable is because it really complicates the LV catalog. Go to Edgar Allan Poe's catalog page, for example: https://librivox.org/author/21 Browsing through, there are already pages of poems and short stories in co...
