I was just about to write a post on the disclaimer when I saw Hefyd's text, which I also like. (Somehow managed to get out of grad school in Classics without Latin prose comp, but I know it when I see it...). Sorry for the delay: I've been overproducing a very small bit in Garageband; I'll go back t...

I love Librivox. Every time I wander in someone is reading one of my favorite things. Please sign me up for 8b; Damon's piece is one of my favorite bits of poetry in any language. Once I've done that I will happily split the rest with whoever is interested! Thanks so much for setting this up. Berry,...

Here is the link to chapter 14. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=B89C3DA6447AF5C7 It is somewhat more ragged than my previous chapters, being longer and involving a whole bunch of really obscure Spartan and Boeotian names. I think it meets the 98% rule, but am open to t...

Sorry for the delay in posting chapter 14. I thought I would have a recording setup that would work while I was on vacation...and didn't. Planning to record tomorrow night.

I can definitely commit to one chapter per week, starting now. All going well you should have chapter 11 by tomorrow (5/14), with 13 and 14 following by the end of May.

I am very pleased to see some activity here, and a deadline.

Chapter 12 is being worked on by YouSendIt as I write.

Please sign me up for chapters 11, 13, and 14 (and I may be able to pick up the other stragglers as well, we'll see how it goes).

Welcome! And pretentious is OK by me, especially since I agree with you on Thucydides vs. Xenophon. I like the Anabasis, but it's the history of one campaign...Thucydides is the History of War, which is a very different project. I'm also unclear on who's doing what and have been meaning to send some...

Plato as actual dialogue is a great (no, fantastic) idea, and I'd be happy to collaborate. Only the dimmest idea of how to actually do it. Splicing audio would presumably work. It might be interesting to try Skype and see how poor the audio quality is. But maybe the Earnest group have already had th...

Oh, the humanity!

Well, given that I wasn't real thorough in the editing process I think there will be plenty for all to enjoy. :D

Here's the link for chapter 12 http://s65.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1Y0J7ZFIRVMIW3P1U67PBJ8EBW I did some editing for lip-smacking and breath-sucking, and think I got the Audacity settings right. I am not sure about the volume levels (still fiddling with different microphone possibilities), but I thin...

Lance, didn't see your post until it was moved over here and am not sure when you made your claim, so sorry if I've grabbed your favorite bit. I have done chapter 12 but would be happy to give 13 & 14 to you. I am guessing that at least a few of the currently claimed chapters are actually availa...

Perhaps misguided, perhaps misplaced. :D But that's the real joy of the web: you have a party and eventually everyone wanders through. Including people who think reading Thucydides is fun.
