As far as your mic, I'd say just search online for comparable equipment because you'd likely find more info and choices (since you're not getting much response here yet anyway)...

I just wanted to mention I am new here too and in Las Vegas. I searched the 'intros' here and it looks like you and I are the only recent Las Vegas people, but a few over the years.
It's exciting to be able to do this for practice AND contribute to a great cause for free.
