This is from Ariosto’s Carmina. It’s a comic poem in Latin – an invective against Lena, patroness of… well, pimps, prostitutes and whoremongers… Goliardic and gruesome… Giosuè Carducci translated the poem in (proparoxytonic!) dactylic hendecasyllables in his first edition of “Odi barbare” – possibly...
