My section's already done and in the editing phase. I just said the word without spelling or heavy emphasis. Should I go back and change it?

Quick question: at several points in my chapter a character says something and the word is spelled out, like "B-a-r-r-u-n." I've never understood how to say that type of word. Do I spell it out or just say the word really slowly?
