Re: The Advantage Of Multiple Versions

Sometimes I'm musing about the very different behaviours and atmospheres in online communities: Free Software projects or Linux distributions, Wikipedia (where each language community is different), and LV... all of them are full of excellent people but the tone can be very different (and I'm not ev...

Re: ISO new laptop/device for recording

There are many criteria when buying laptops. I'll tell you mine, up to you to decide whether they are valid for you or not :-) SSD disks are generally much faster, less noisy, and more robust to shocks than magnetic disks, but they are also smaller (or more expensive per gigabyte), which is only a p...

Re: e-book "The Book of Audacity" (No Starch Press) in the $1 HumbleBundle level

Most other books in the bundle are about Linux and BSD, yes; there are also a few for multi-platform graphics applications like GIMP and Inkscape. The Audacity book is for all platforms (though its author is a veteran journalist in the Linux world). The book contains a narrow chapter (12 pages) abou...

e-book "The Book of Audacity" (No Starch Press) in the $1 HumbleBundle level

While there are many excellent free on-line resources, I'd just like to point out that "The Book of Audacity" by Carla Schroder (No Starch Press) is, for the next 19 days, included in the $1 level of this "HumbleBundle": https://www.humblebundle.com/books/linux-bsd-bookshelf-2019-books HumbleBundle ...

Re: Does Legamus have a Twitter handle? [Apparently not]

No, there is no official Twitter handle and as far as I know also no inofficial one. There is something better, though: an official RSS feed ("Entries RSS" on https://legamus.eu/blog/ ; maybe I could make the link a bit nicer) :D Keeps you up-to-date on new entries without binding you to a central p...

Re: [OPEN] Dutch Fairy Tales for Young Folks - philc

Here are the Kabouters and their bells: https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/dutchfairytalesforyoungfolks_09_griffis_128kb.mp3 I'm not too happy with the THs, tried to equalize them down a bit. Hope it is acceptable. I had a little windshield but next time I'll change the positioning or constr...

Re: [OPEN] Dutch Fairy Tales for Young Folks - philc

Thanks Phil! Kabouters are kobolds, playing tricks on but also helping men. In this story they are most helpful. The friendliness of the story is what made me choose it - I'm trying to get my son interested into audiobooks, starting with my own voice. Also, it's been too long a time that I did only ...

FIXED [empty catalogue page] German "Erzählungen für Kinder"

Hello, are the issues with "empty catalogue pages for recently finished projects" supposed to be resolved by now?

At least
http://librivox.org/erzaehlungen-fuer-kinder-von-various/
still has problems!

All the best,
Viktor.

Re: European LibriVox branch?

Here's the forum: http://legamus.eu/forum I copied a subset of LV's categories there. Hokuspokus, you have admin rights; please feel free to use them as you wish! Anyone else wants some? No fear, there aren't hardly any other users, and I do regular backups :D Do I resume this correctly? We'd like t...

Re: European LibriVox branch?

It would need much technical expertise, which I can't offer, and it won't start as small as LibriVox did at the beginning because there are so many established readers now. In other words, it would need a dedicated team right from the start and it would be hard work. I hope that technically we can ...

Re: European LibriVox branch?

Name : When I chose "legamus" (Latin for: "let's read"), I looked for something general yet not totally of the road. If you wish so, I offer that domain - my current pages may well be "de.legamus.eu" or a different subdomain. Or something else in Latin or Greek? I like how such names are implicitly...

European LibriVox branch?

The critical point is file hosting, like Availle said. Another critical point is that we need to keep US law and EU law apart. So we would need to have a completely separate infrastructure, uploader, forum, machinery behind the scene. Else we would risk serious legal problems. Even the name LibriVo...

German Libre audiobooks site: new design, feedback wanted

Hello to all readers and listeners of German audiobooks, since 2005, about the same time as LibriVox, I try to collect German audiobooks under free licenses on the web site that is now called legamus.eu . I started this site with my own recordings because I couldn't find any existing equivalent. Obv...
