Re: COMPLETE: Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
Hello Manfred fans, I did an alternative edit of Manfred, directly based on gloriana's librivox version. Previously, I was aiming to do a PD version but I passed the editing duties on and gloriana completed it. Later, I changed to aim for a CC-BY licensed result with enables a broader range of mater...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
CatRose, I have assigned the part to you. Please read the solo lines for the part, as well as the chorus sections at the same speed as the sound files I linked to in my 25th March forum post. Unfortunately that will probably be my last action as BC. After some behind the scenes discussion and reflec...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
wildemoose,
That doesn't appear to be consistent with what TriciaG has said.

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
Woah, hang on a second. People keep saying SOME sound effects effects are allowed: "I'm okay with a knock on the table which is obviously generated by the reader when the script calls for a knock at the door, but anything more than that makes me nervous." -- wildemoose "We do allow SO...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
There are many mentions of sound effects in the page. Just because they are in the section for music just proves my point that the page is not consistent.

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
I see additional responses from bart and TriciaG since I was drafting this post. I will give them some consideration before responding. The rest of this forum post is in response to wildemoose. wildemoose, you didn't address the option of me personally recording sound effects, which would seem to be...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
The most sound related stage direction in Manfred is probably "The Shepherd's pipe in the distance is heard." but there are several scenes that take place involving outdoor scenes with waterfalls and mountain climbing. Also, there are several times spirits materialise and dematerialise, as...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
Verity91, thanks for your recording! I have created a script for the narrator [1] I was again considering music and sound effects and I looked at the Librivox guidelines [2] which could hardly be more anti-music and sound effects. This seems to be contradicted by some, such as the thread on editing ...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
Martin, I was thinking of adding some audio effects to Arimanes anyway. Your reading is fine. :) hggarrett, I have assigned the part to you. Please read your solo sections, as well as the chorus sections I listed in my 25th March forum post. The chorus sections should be read in time with the audio ...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
As a small footnote, there are a few works inspired by Manfred, and I thought I would share them. http://archive.org/details/SchumannManfredOverture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manfred_on_the_Jungfrau_%281842%29 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cole_Thomas_Scene_from_-Manfred_1833.jpg https://en...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
I have been rather quiet recently, partly because I was focusing on recording. I am pleased to say I finished a first version of Manfred (the character). I am now turning my attention to the overall project. ChuckW, your recording sounds fine. I did a few seconds of rough editing our reading togethe...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
I have uploaded two scenes for Manfred. There is still quite a way to go yet!
Is there any point in posting the length of the audio files? Or is that only relevant for the final editing versions?

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
Thanks for your readings, gloriana and Snapdragon. That establishes a tempo for other chorus sections. I think I will use the speed of the hymn of the spirits that gloriana set and Snapdragon copied (who's original readings are used otherwise). It is slightly slower. For the other spirits, download ...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Manfred by Lord Byron- alg
Snapdragon, those recordings seem good. You just missed two lines of chorus (Act 2 Scene 4 Lines 34-35). I hope you can complete this loose end. Perhaps you can read those lines at the same speed as gloriana?: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/alg/manfred_firstspirit_2.mp3 gloriana, thanks fo...
