Re: [SOLO] An excursion the Lakes by William Hutchinson-arb

I agree fully that this is not great literature, it's someone telling us about a great place they have been . It's like a sketch made with watercolours It will get muddy if over worked. I'd just cut out repeats and put in the summary that it was recorded in situ

Re: Simple suggestion for improving reader performance

And that's fine, but not an LV requirement :D And I would argue that for fiction that there's a certain joy in thinking you and the reader are discovering the book at the same time :D And as for youtube - many of those who try to claim ownership of our works can't even spend time making the covers r...

Re: The Trial by Kafka

You'd need to find a translation published before 1923 - no one has been able to yet.

Re: Tags in generated files missing and worse

I've checked my downloaded 64 kb zip file and all the tags are there. We don't make the 64kb zip - Archive does them "on demand" , maybe it's a "server glitch" or something ?

Re: Metalic sound in Greenmantle by John Buchan (solo)

I'm a John Buchan fan and I've listened to Tom's reading of Greenmantle many times - he has a distinctive sound in all his recordings which I don't find a problem - and he's a great story teller, and easy to follow.

No, you don't need to do the test if you don't want to read - I assumed from the header that she wanted to read.

There's still a problem with the text on the pdf - it doesn't fit , and the link to the librivox page has not been changed

All the different forums that say "readers wanted" are group or collabarative projects full of co-ordinators who , once you've got you recording stuff organised and you've done the 1 minute test , will welcome you with open arms . so welcome aboard

Re: New! Volunteer CD Covers! - cont.

Thanks both Philip - I've managed to fix them but there were a few mistakes you ended the files 0618 covention is 1805 (it's may over here:D ), and putting the year first means that the years will sort together, not the months. and the cover needs to come as a pdf - fortunately...

Re: Book Published in 1923

Could I suggest , as you have limited time that as you've only ever recorded a few minutes so far , that you try a longer chapter out of a readers wanted project so you can get a better idea of how long the whole book would take to record and whether you really enjoy recording or not , at the same t...

Re: compressor, normalize, clipping?

There's not set value for DC offset if it is present, I've seen quite large values, it depends on recording set ups. I've certainly seen values of 10 plus , though I usually just get rid of it, not measure it. The main problem with it is when editing, if the offset is say 10, the recording wave plun...
