Re: SOLO The Dream of Gerontius by John Henry Newman - tg

I've got a project cataloged and another in the validator, so I have MC space! This is set up. I would suggest saying "section [number]" rather than "chapter [number]" in your intros and outros, since these aren't really chapters. :) As you're the soloist, you're in charge of updating the Magic Win...

You can edit the first post. The coding that goes to set up the project won't be changed, but whoever MCs this project will probably read these posts and figure out to change it when setting up the project. ;)
Got it. Thanks.

If acceptable to Russ, I would be very happy to serve as DPL. This is a project which will appeal to many of us here, and, more important, to the LibriVox listens as a group.
It will be great to have you as DLP. Thanks!

Re: SOLO The Dream of Gerontius by John Henry Newman

12,600 words is probably going to be longer than 72 minutes, which is about our limit. (That much, so that it can fit on a regular audio CD if people choose to burn it to a CD.) So you'd need to divide it into at least 2 files. Whether you choose to do 2, 7, or some number in between is up to you. ...

Re: SOLO The Dream of Gerontius by John Henry Newman

OOPS! I may have made a significant mistake in this. Although there are seven "phases" (chapters) of uneven length (one is just 460 words) in the poem, it should be read and listened to as a whole. Thus, it seems somewhat inappropriate to me to break it up into seven sections; perhaps it should be j...

SOLO The Dream of Gerontius by John Henry Newman - tg

The Dream of Gerontius by John Henry Newman (1801 - 1890) . As a rule, when Cardinal Newman's poetry is mentioned, people think of "The Pillar of the Cloud," better known as "Lead, Kindly Light." This lyric is only one of the many beautiful poems written by an author whose fame as a writer of the f...

Thanks! How did you find editing/correcting? :)
Actually, I was amazed at how well it went. My voice varied little from the original, and I figured out how to cut and paste without too much trouble. I'm beginning to realize how much good editing can do to improve a reading.

Re: [HISTORY] History of Australia & New Zealand from 1696-1890 - tg

Record and paste in. I can't imagine redoing a recording every time I make a couple mistakes that need new audio! To make it as seamless as possible, record the whole phrase rather than just the wrong word(s), imitating your original expression of tone. Then you can substitute in either the phrase ...

Thanks - that was quick! :) Want more? Not for the moment. However, I am enjoying trying to work out the kinks in my recording method. Feel free to make suggestions. As you know, I'm just getting my feet wet. Russ Hey Russ - your recording was really good for getting your feet wet! The only minor f...

I'd like to claim Section 2, The Convict Settlement at Sydney, 1788-1800.
