Re: Voice-activated microphone

Thank you all for your advice. I tried to change the settings as Tricia suggested (I use Win10 but it's similar) and then I found the "microphone amplification" option. It was set quite high so I tried to lower it and eventually turn it off completely. I'd say it helped a lot and with a bit of audac...

Voice-activated microphone

Hello, I've done a few recordings on LV and although they're good enough to be PL OK, there's still some background noise. I'd like to do the noise cleaning but here comes the problem with my microphone – it's voice-activated so the gaps between my words are filled with silence instead of the noise ...

I do think your recording would benefit from a run through a noise reduction filter, however. If you would like to learn more about this, please just ask.
Of course – if it doesn't bother you, I'll be glad to learn how to improve my recordings :)

Re: [Fortnightly Poem] Sonnet 29 by William Shakespeare - dl

Thank you, Kudrna. Your recitation is word perfect, but there are a couple of technical issues to be dealt with before it can be given the PL OK status: At the end of your file, there are only 4 seconds of silence. LV insists on 5. At the beginning of your file, there should be a period of silence ...

Thank you very much for your recitation. There is one more step we need to take: you need to come up with a "catalog name" for you to use. This is a name that will appear in the Magic Window. Many people just use their Librivox User Name; however, you can use any short name you like. Please tell me...

Re: One Minute Test [OK]

Now if you didn't insert any silence, then maybe your microphone was simply "turning off automatically" when you don't speak. Some microphones do that. That could be a reason too. Well this seems the most probable option, I didn't think of that. I hope it won't disturb the listeners too much. Also ...
