I remember the "1913 massacre" song -- that one was so grim I couldn't forget it.
Arlo's rendition is even more heart-wrenching, I think.

Re: Harmonium by Wallace Stevens

Go with your thoughts. If you think it's worth doing or even if you want to do it, that's a good enough reason to go ahead. LV isn't about popularity, it's about readers. Trust your judgment - nobody can really say what will be "popular". If you wanted a group rendition you may find your thoughts d...

Re: [HISTORY] Fires and Fire-fighters by John KENLON - jo

I fully understand. In addition to my uncle being a firefighter, my grandfather and great uncle were building engineers and inspectors in Brooklyn and in Manhattan. As for the little bit of 'noise,' don't worry about it. I listened three times to make sure it wasn't from my street! Anyone listening ...

If you allowed gifs, I'd place here that volcano-like thing from Encounters of the Third Kind.

Re: Young's Literal Translation of the NT

I think I’ll go ahead and take it on as a solo, and I’ll divide the sections to be the 22 chapters like Mark did...if you could direct me as to how to begin/go about a solo project I’d love to begin learning how to do that. Cool! It's actually easier as a solo. (Not by much, but you can work at you...

Section 16 PL OK.

Gosh, what horrifying stories...

There is one issue at about 8:45---a truck or something in the background---but I really don't think it's a problem.

Re: Young's Literal Translation of the NT

I would volunteer reading for this project, for what that's worth. :) Yay! What would you like to do? I'll let you in on a secret first. I'm hoping we do each of the four gospels in one voice. I'm doing Mark first, but others could jump in a take a gospel for themselves. Or, as an alternative, I th...

Silly question Friday---LV forum's maximum audience

So, LV hosted nearly 700 people at one time on Christmas 2017, a record.

Did this crowd gather to hear the release of the annual Christmas carol?

Or was strong eggnog served?

Re: Okay. With an open mind, let's discuss Billy Budd

Well, I'll wait til the new year and offer this to SciMet. I should add that the 1924 edition is problematic, but I don't think another edition comes up into the public domain for years and years. I'll be tucked away by then.

Re: Okay. With an open mind, let's discuss Billy Budd

I should add that I'm perfectly willing to wait until the new year. And, for that matter, I think I should defer to ScientificMethodist who has also expressed in interest in recording the work. But this is an interesting issue. I'm actually looking for an acceptable copy for SciMet as they are not y...

Hathitrust marks this as in the public domain. Who am I to argue with them?
