Players (for elderly)

Apologies in advance if this crosses some policy line... it might technically, but I don't think it does in spirit. (No money involved!) I've just published an Audiobook player focused on the elderly or people with other limitations in Play Store. It has a really simple UI and works really well with...

Re: Strange security message from Chrome

David, that's useful to know. I'm actually less-than-surprised. <guesswork>Google somehow counts downloads and if it's below some threshold, it's "not commonly downloaded". If it crosses the threshold, then the complaint doesn't occur. Possibly my download was the one that "did it". It could also be...

Strange security message from Chrome

I just tried downloading The Missing Formula . missing_formula_1812_librivox_64kb_mp3_zip. Chrome is giving me the message "missing_formula_1...zip is not commonly downloaded" and giving me the option to accept, discard, or go to https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/6261569?visit_id=637107756490...

Re: Players (for elderly)

@schrm (my first attempt seems to have gone astray). I'm looking for examples of privacy policies (etc.) that match what I'm doing, which is giving away the app with no expectation of any recompense (no ads, no purchases, no registration or accounts). However I need to protect myself from (possible)...

Re: Players (for elderly)

@Cori: OK... I just posted a bit more details on what I'm trying to find. The player itself is just a passive player (no "accounts" or anything like that - it collects NO user data). It has no idea who's using it. Other than the shout-out you request on the web page (long since written) it doesn't r...

Re: Players (for elderly)

@KevinS: unhappily for me, Audacity does use advertising (albeit well curated, which is great!) and a bulletin board, and thus isn't a good model for my "completely free, no strings" intent.

Anyone (else) have any ideas?

Players (for elderly)

I'm working on an Android book player(*) with particular emphasis on the elderly who have limitations using things like smart phones (and CD players, and...). My "beta tester" has read a lot of your books with it very successfully. This will be a completely free app (both liber and gratis) and I bel...

Odd/Inconsistent metadata in "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court"

(This is for version 1): https://librivox.org/a-connecticut-yankee-in-king-arthurs-court-by-mark-twain/ All (other) Librivox downloads I've looked at have metadata in "English" (spaces and capitalized). This one has the metadata in "Computer", that is in all lower case with spaces replaced by unders...
