Twenty-two.
Do you get the impression that Ainsworth, in his subtle way, is intimating that Wild is the Devil?

Up next, 21.

Oh, I meant to mention in Section 20--is there anyone more insufferable than Mrs. Wood? I can only hope she makes good her threat, and has decamped from Wych Street when the carpenter returns!

20 is up and ready!
Ainsworth's Achilles heel are his descriptive passage. He is heading straight towards his exciting conclusion to the chapter, when he pauses for a lengthy description of the prison cell. Leaden, and stifling!

Don't know why, but, even though 19 is now ready for PL, and is showing up in the Window, it is not showing up in the Forum. But it's there, I think!

18.

Nice spacing. Two chapters of High Drama, now followed by a chapter of Low Comedy.

Here's 17!

Quite melodramatic, don't you think? What I want to know is, if we last see Sir Rowland seated in a chair, why does he next appear sprawled over his sister's body?

The new and improved 16.

On the other hand, Thames is impossibly Good. Heck, Jack was born to hang. (BTW, where'd you find that Jack offed himself? On Wikipedia, they not only say Jack was hung, they give a full account of the affair.)
