Re: [Weekly Poetry] Our Mat by Andrew Barton Paterson - dl

Should it interest anyone, here’s is the poem of Australian poet Henry Lawson, who served time banged up in Sydney’s Darlinghurst Gaol as mentioned in the introduction to this weekly poem. Its title “One-Hundred-And-Three” was Lawson prisoner number at the time. https://archive.org/details/selected...

Re: [Weekly Poetry] Long I Thought that Knowledge by Walt Whitman - dl

I've always felt that ambiguity is an important part of poetry. Wow. That one comment kind of just changed the whole way I think about poetry and art in general. I've always been focused on "getting it right" and figuring out what the writer really meant and now I realize I approac...

Re: [Fortnightly Poem] The Tom-Cat by Don Marquis - dl

A nice job. Thank you! PL OK! My only comment, I suppose, is not to be afraid to emote a bit more. But a nice presentation! Oh interesting! I was afraid that I put too much emotion into my reading, I thought it might be better to be more neutral, so that's an unexpected perspective. Thank you for t...

My submission: https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/knowledge_whitman_skp_128kb.mp3 Length: 2:02 Thank you! (I'm curious for that last phrase-"we never separate again". Do others interpret it as separate as in the idea of, "we never end up separating again"? Or is it separate as ...

Re: Fortnightly Poem - Ye Goatherd Gods by Sir Philip Sidney

Can't wait to hear the duo version!

I love the clever tumbling of the six words here, sestinas are wonderful. This was a fun read, thanks for the introduction to this poem. Crossing my fingers that I get over this spring cold in time to record a version myself!

Re: [FORTNIGHTLY POEM] Love's Language, Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Mercy me, did you read it through again and again until you made no mistakes? I can't speak for everyone else for positively sure, but most readers read along and if they make a mistake they keep the tape running and repeat the line or phrase until it sounds right, and when they complete the record...

Re: [FORTNIGHTLY POEM] Love's Language, Ella Wheeler Wilcox

My try; I've only done a couple weekly poems so far, so the longer length of this poem was a challenge! I'm sure it's nothing to the expert folks here, but phew, as a newbie, it's harder than expected not to goof up somewhere along the the 2 minute stretch. But I guess the silver lining is that goof...
