Re: [HUMOROUS ESSAYS] The Powder of Sympathy, by Christopher Morley - icequeen

Opening silence must be between 0.5 and 1 second (I believe 1 1/2 would be too long). The general wisdom seems to be that silences between paragraphs shouldn't be more than 2 seconds, and even less within paragraphs. Fifty-four seconds is an awfully long time to wait for a story to start. Some list...

My only comments have to do with the length of pauses. --The longest one ...

Re: [Memoir] Our Southern Highlanders by Horace Kephart-ag

Good catch, Betsy. My imagination pushed aside the reality of the words on the page...again! I also added the 'The End' prior to my closing (you're right, the words ARE there) and also tightened up the closing of chapter and book - makes it seem more like one big announcement (which I agree is an i...

Section 17, 'When the Sleeper Wakes' enclosed, in 27:08: https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/oursouthernhighlanders_17_kephart_128kb.mp3 Even includes a bonus track - a brief history of Scotch Highlanders - which was also interesting (if less grand than perhaps descendants thereof might have imagi...
