Re: 1 Minute Test

I figured you would, but had to mention it anyway. You know what happens when you assume. LOL

If you forget in a project, the person doing PL will flag it, so no worries.

Re: 1 Minute Test

Excellent; that meets the specs nicely. Thanks for working through that; its definitely good practice before recording for a project.

I'll give you a PL OK! and a

Please feel free to find a project you'd like to pitch in on, and request some sections to read.

Welcome!

Re: 1 Minute Test

That's better; tech specs are all fine. I'll give this a PL OK! and a  Feel free to join in the fun; pick a project and request some sections to read! One note... Your test recording did not follow the naming convention that is (I believe) described in the 1-minute test article on the wiki. ...

Re: 1 Minute Test

Interesting reading! Unfortunately there are a couple of problems here. First, your recording is in stereo, and LibriVox requires mono recordings. This is easy to fix in Audacity, I don't know Ardour. Second issue is volume. Your volume is way too low, clocking in at 76.6dB, while the acceptable ran...

Re: 1 Minute Test

Happy to say your tech specs are fine... but the volume is too low. Your volume is 84.9, while the acceptable range is 86-92, with the ideal being near to 89. Please try either the "amplify effect, or the ReplayGain plug-in for Audacity Before doing either, though, I'd suggest a noise reduction pass...

Re: [Weekly Poem] The Ghosts of Growth by George Parsons Lathrop - dl

Hi there! This is my first recorded reading and first upload and first anything on this site or anywhere. So please, if any of you seasoned audiouploaders have any feedback I'd be happy to hear it. Here's my take: https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/ghostofgrowth_lathrop_pr_128kb.mp3 1:19 Recordin...

Re: One Minute test recording

This file meets the tech specs... and volume is good too. I'll give you a PL OK! Feel free to request sections from an existing project, or submit recordings in the weekly or fortnightly poetry projects (which you can do immediately without waiting for someone to approve a request for a sec...

Here's mine: https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/ghostsofgrowth_lathrop_sm_128kb.mp3 1:12 Please note that there's an error in the upload instructions. Old hands won't be confused, buy a newbie might trip over this: - You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: yy - yyyyy Should be - Y...

Re: first test completed

Good work! this file meets the tech specs, volume is close to ideal as well. I'll give you a PL OK! and  You should be ready to record the sections you've already claimed. I'm still hearing some hum in the silence before and after your reading, although I think it is better than what it was ...

Re: 1-minute test - Theophania

Hello and thanks for submitting your 1-minute test! This file meets the technical specs. Your volume is good, and the silence sections are long enough. Actually, your lead-in silence is a tad long; we aim for nothing more than 1 second, but that's an easy snip. That being said, there is some noticea...

Re: first test completed

This is much closer to what we're looking for, but it is still saved with a variable bit rate rather than fixed at 128 kbps. When you export the MP3 from Audacity, look in the save dialog for the fields circled in this image: Click for image Except for the force to mono checkbox, you already have th...

Re: 1-minute test

Sorry I didnt mention it before, but had this been a recording for a project, the initial silence is too long. Most project recordings call for no more than 1 second of initial silence. It's clear that you know how to edit out extra stuff; no harm no foul for the 1-minute test. This file meets tech ...

Re: 1-minute test

Kim... Welcome to LibriVox! Your tech specs are OK, but the volume is too low. It measures 80.4 dB, we aim for 89 dB +/-3. In this case, if you do a straight amplify in Audacity with its suggested amplification, that will put you right where you need to be. It doesn't always work out that way, and u...

Re: One Minute test recording

Great, thanks for supplying the link. I liked your reading; your tone and pacing were great. I have a few notes for you... while this may seem like a lot, it's all really minor and easy to fix. This file does not meet the technical requirements. This is not uncommon for first uploads... and getting ...

Re: 1 minute test [OK]

Welcome (back)! Very nice reading. this met the tech specs fine, and you have picked a good mic placement that doesn't create plosives. feel free to pick a project and request a section! If you're really jazzing to get started, you could try the weekly and fortnightly poetry selections; they are gen...
