Re: [GRP] Short Story Collection 075 - lt

Section 15 "Common Stock" PL Note: About 29:00 one repeated sentence "Jim nodded toward the tragic figure at the other end of the car. Jim nodded..." Cheryl :) Fixed. New length 39:52. I deleted the second instance of that sentence and touched nothing else. https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/ss075...

Re: [GRP] Short Story Collection 075 - lt

I saw that genealogy link, but couldn’t make a clear connection other than the name. Several bibliographic sites list her birth year as 1883, though - all pretty sketchy. I noticed that the census info at that link also lists her birth year as "circa 1883", and I've seen enough disputed birth years...

Re: [GRP] Short Story Collection 075 - lt

Author (birth year - death year): Marie Harriette Frary (1883- ) and Charles Maurice Stebbins (1871-1937?) I wonder if that's the Marie Harriette Kendall (nee Frary) who's listed on various genealogy sites, for example https://www.myheritage.com/names/marie_frary. If so, her dates seem to have been...

Fixed. I re-recorded everything between 12:35 and 12:51; the rest is unchanged.

Re: Multi-volume works still to be completed

That would be good - maybe post it in the book suggestions if you don't want to read them yourself and I'll keep this thread for multi-volume works. Anne I did a bit of spelunking and decided that the two volumes already recorded at LV are in fact the only two volumes in the series "Lectures of Col...

Re: Compendious History of English Literature and the English Language, Vol. I, by George L. Craik - kit

I'd probably be better off reading from my physical copy of the book. I would not recommend that, as we absolutely need to read from the PD source. One cannot be sure that the text has not been changed slightly in new editions. I never read from the pdf file but always from the archive scan. You ca...

Section 4 is ready for PL. Lots of names here. I can't vouch for every last one of them. I think you did quite well with all the names, in fact I only found one which had a little mis-pronunciation. I think it was due to the fact that you mis-read the letter 'u' for an 'n' ;) > at 12:45 : (p. 47) E...

Re: ~[horror] Studies in Love and in Terror by Marie Lowndes -ck

I was recently given this note, which I share with you. Recordings usually have .5 to 1 second of space at the beginning; without it, it's a bit abrupt to the listener. As all else is okay, I'd not take the time to correct this, now, but is something you may wish to consider for furture recordings....

Re: Multi-volume works still to be completed

Although the first post is in my name, I did start it, but since then have mainly added other suggestions, so you probably know more than I do. If you think that's all there are I will willingly remove them Anne No rush. When I get a chance (probably in the next couple of days) I'll do a complete s...

Re: Multi-volume works still to be completed

Archive.org has all the other volumes: Link here II think I see where the confusion lies. There are in fact only two numbered volumes there - and at Gutenberg and Google Books - under the title "The Lectures of Col. R. G. Ingersoll" (the title given in the OP). There is also one unnumbered volume t...

Section 1 ready for PL https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/studies_01_lowndes_128kb.mp3 Duration 21:53 At first I thought of giving the characters French accents, but I found I wasn't able to manage that to my satisfaction. (At least, not without turning the story into a comedy.) I hope it's not a ...

Re: Compendious History of English Literature and the English Language, Vol. I, by George L. Craik - kit

What I especially love in your reading is that you don't maim any foreign names, be it Latin, French or here even Gaelic origin. You always take great care and probably some background check to make them sound as accurate as possible. :9: Wonderful dedication on your part here. Thanks for noticing....
